Staff Engineering Analyst

About the role

Google’s Trust and Safety Ad Traffic Quality team is looking for a Staff Engineering Analyst to protect the advertising ecosystem from fraud and abuse. You will work on Google‑scale data, develop proactive mitigation strategies, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, legal and sales teams worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze billions of ad‑traffic events to detect and prevent invalid traffic and fraud.
• Identify emerging AI‑driven threat vectors, forecast misuse scenarios, and design mitigation plans.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytical tools using Python and SQL.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Sales, Legal, Policy, Training, Quality and Vendor Management to drive cross‑functional projects.
• Lead high‑fidelity operational processes and participate in a rotating on‑call rotation.
• Document workflows, create process guides, and continuously improve operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in data analysis, including trend identification, statistical summarisation, and insight generation.
• Minimum 7 years of project management experience, defining scope, goals and deliverables.
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience using Python and SQL to solve engineering problems.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and attention‑to‑detail in a fast‑changing environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Willingness to work across time zones with a globally distributed team.
