Staff Nurse – Adult Residential Services

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Staff Nurse (RNID) to join our Adult Residential Services in the Longford/Westmeath area. The role involves delivering high‑quality nursing care to adults with intellectual disabilities and autism within a residential setting, while developing your clinical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Provide person‑centred nursing care and support to residents, including those with behaviours of concern.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote inclusion, positive risk management and community integration.
• Maintain accurate, electronic care documentation and produce computerised reports.
• Respond to safeguarding concerns and adhere to HIQA standards.
• Work flexibly across day, weekend, night and “sleep‑over” shifts, often independently in residents’ homes.

Required profile

• Registered on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (RNID) or awaiting registration.
• Excellent communication, leadership, mentoring and supervision abilities.
• Knowledge of HIQA standards and safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
• Strong organisational, logistical and interpersonal skills.
• Full manual driving licence and willingness to travel between homes.
• Experience working alone with vulnerable adults and a compassionate, respectful attitude.

Required skills

• IT skills for electronic documentation and report writing.
