Staff Midwife – Regional Hospital Mullingar

About the role

The Regional Hospital Mullingar is seeking qualified Staff Midwives to join its multidisciplinary team. This position offers both permanent and specified‑purpose appointments on a full‑time or part‑time basis, supporting safe, high‑quality maternity care for women, babies and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive midwifery care across a range of clinical settings.
• Perform midwifery procedures, clinical interventions and patient observations.
• Manage ward activities, including medication administration and documentation.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or eligible for registration.
• Current 4th‑year midwifery student on clinical placement or graduate who will complete the BSc (Honours) in Midwifery by September 2026.
• Good health and character to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Ability to maintain annual NMBI registration and submit the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate.

Required skills

• Competence in midwifery procedures, clinical interventions, patient monitoring, ward management and medication handling.
