Staff Nurse (General) Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Staff Nurse (General) in Emergency Medicine provides safe, effective nursing care to patients presenting to the emergency department. Working within the professional scope of practice, the nurse applies evidence‑based clinical knowledge, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and contributes to the delivery of high‑quality emergency services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, monitor and deliver nursing care to emergency patients in accordance with best practice.
• Administer medications, treatments and interventions safely and document all care accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Adhere to all relevant legislation, policies and the HSE Transformation Programme guidelines.
• Participate in continuous professional development and maintain up‑to‑date clinical competence.
• Work flexible rosters, including night shifts, on‑call duties and unsocial hours as required.
• Engage with information technology systems relevant to nursing practice.
