About the role

The International Research on Energy Systems Integration, Education & Environment for Sustainability and Innovation Centre (IRESI) at Maynooth University is seeking a motivated Technical Research Assistant to join a multidisciplinary team on the RENEW project, funded by Research Ireland. This early‑career position offers hands‑on experience in data‑driven modelling, applied statistics, and research software development within a fast‑moving energy‑systems environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and refine data‑driven models supporting the RENEW project.
• Prepare, clean, and manage large, complex energy‑related datasets for analysis.
• Build and test computational workflows and support broader project analytics.
• Collaborate closely with senior researchers and technical staff to ensure model accuracy and project milestones are met.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career researcher with strong analytical thinking.
• Willingness to learn new methodologies and tools in a collaborative, technical setting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Experience with data handling and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with research software development practices.
