Transport Planner

About the role

Jacobs is looking for a Traffic or Transport Planner who is passionate about creating safer, more sustainable, and better‑designed streets and public spaces. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop active‑travel schemes, re‑allocate road space, and shape high‑quality urban streets that respond to local context.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical development and delivery of traffic engineering and active travel projects.
• Produce and review high‑quality designs, drawings, reports and tender documentation.
• Apply Irish design standards and guidance to develop practical, context‑led solutions.
• Support project and client management, including programme, resources, quality and commercial performance.
• Engage effectively with clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
• Check and review deliverables to ensure design consistency and technical assurance.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
• Assist business development activities, bid preparation and client engagement.

Required profile

• Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or transport discipline.
• Experience in sustainable transport, placemaking or road‑space re‑allocation projects.
• Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams across different geographies.
• Strong technical expertise, sound professional judgement and a solutions‑focused mindset.
• Ability to mentor others and continue developing technical leadership.
