About the role
The Advocacy and Research Officer will support MS Ireland’s mission to improve the lives of people living with multiple sclerosis. Working in a hybrid setting, the role combines policy advocacy, research coordination and community engagement to ensure that the voices of people with MS shape services and public policy.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement MS Ireland’s advocacy strategy in line with the organisational plan.
- Identify emerging policy issues, design campaigns, and produce briefing papers, reports and campaign materials using data and evidence.
- Monitor Irish, EU and international health and disability policy developments and advise on opportunities for influence.
- Engage with people living with MS, healthcare professionals, public representatives and researchers to gather feedback and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Represent MS Ireland on external committees, advisory groups and stakeholder forums.
- Maintain advocacy and policy content across the organisation’s website, social media and publications.
- Coordinate surveys and research projects, manage relationships with research bodies and disseminate findings in accessible formats.
- Develop and deliver grassroots advocacy training to empower people with MS.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in health policy, advocacy or research, preferably within the disability or chronic disease sector.
- Strong analytical abilities and experience turning research data into clear policy recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
