Android Developer – POS & Payment Systems

About the role

We are seeking an Android Developer to join our team in Nenagh, Ireland, working on embedded Android/AOSP platforms for point‑of‑sale (POS) devices. The role focuses on building and maintaining payment applications that comply with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Android applications using Java and Kotlin for embedded/AOSP variants on POS terminals.
• Integrate and test POS device SDKs, particularly PAX hardware, handling serial, USB, Bluetooth and NFC communications.
• Implement payment flows, EMV transaction lifecycle, contactless/NFC processing and secure key management.
• Prepare certification artefacts and logs for Visa, Mastercard and American Express compliance.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps) and automated testing suites (unit, integration, UI automation).
• Debug applications on constrained devices and analyse logs and traces.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective verbal and written communication, able to produce technical documentation for certification.
• Experience working in regulated financial or fintech environments.

Required skills

• Android development with Java and Kotlin.
• POS device SDKs and hardware integration (PAX devices preferred).
• EMV, NFC, contactless payment processing.
• PCI and EMV kernel security standards.
• Automated testing and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Android Studio, Gradle, Git.
• Debugging on physical devices and analysing logs/traces.
