Assistant Construction Manager

About the role

Jacobs is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support the delivery of large‑scale Life Sciences construction projects in Ireland. You will work on‑site, collaborating with senior construction leaders, design teams, contractors and client stakeholders to ensure safe, high‑quality, and on‑time execution of Bio‑Pharma and advanced manufacturing facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day onsite supervision, ensuring work is performed safely and to specification.
• Assist in managing subcontractors, monitoring progress, resolving issues and maintaining productive relationships.
• Conduct inspections, review method statements and ensure compliance with Life Sciences quality standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture, participate in audits and support site safety plans.
• Track project progress, identify risks and prepare reports for senior management and clients.
• Maintain clear communication across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning teams.
• Support supervision of site personnel and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance team environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience on construction projects, preferably in highly regulated or cleanroom environments.
• Third‑level engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process or related).
• Demonstrated ability to lead people, foster teamwork and ensure accountability onsite.
• Strong communication skills with confidence engaging contractors, clients and internal teams.
• Willingness to expand multidisciplinary knowledge across engineering and construction functions.
