Assistant Director of Nursing – Bed Management

About the role
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) for Bed Management is a senior leadership position responsible for optimizing patient flow across Beaumont Hospital. The role ensures efficient bed allocation, reduces Emergency Department overcrowding, and supports safe, timely discharges.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily bed allocation, balancing scheduled admissions with emergency demand.
- Lead discharge planning initiatives such as "Plan for Every Patient" and Predicted Date of Discharge (PDD).
- Implement and monitor escalation and overcrowding policies during periods of high demand.
- Collaborate with primary care, nursing homes, and community teams to facilitate integrated patient transfers.
- Analyse real‑time and historical data to report key performance indicators to senior management.
- Manage the patient flow team, including clinical nurse managers, bed managers, and discharge coordinators.
Required profile
- Qualified nurse with extensive experience in acute care settings.
- Proven leadership experience in patient flow, bed management, or discharge planning.
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, emergency department dynamics, and community care pathways.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
