Assistant General Counsel – Privacy & Data Protection

About the role

Kroll Bond Rating Agency is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join its Legal Department in Dublin or London. The role focuses on privacy, data protection and contract matters, supporting the business across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on international data privacy and cybersecurity regulations such as GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy, CCPA/CPRA.
• Develop, implement and maintain privacy, data‑protection and cybersecurity policies.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments and support vendor due‑diligence.
• Assist with cross‑border data‑transfer issues and maintain records of processing activities.
• Coordinate incident and breach response with Technology, Information Security, Legal and Compliance teams.
• Draft, review and negotiate privacy‑related clauses, data processing agreements, vendor contracts, client engagement letters and service agreements.
• Provide privacy input into contract review workflows and advise on risk allocation.
• Monitor developments in privacy, data protection and AI law across Ireland, the UK, the EU and other jurisdictions.
• Update privacy notices, policies and deliver internal training on data protection.
• Liaise with regulators, external counsel and auditors as required.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
• Experience in privacy, data protection or related legal practice.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams and senior management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA/CPRA and related regulations.
• Experience drafting and negotiating contracts with privacy clauses.
• Familiarity with privacy impact assessments and data‑processing agreements.
