Assistant Professor – History (0.5 FTE, Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The School of History and Geography at Dublin City University is seeking a part‑time Assistant Professor (0.5 FTE) on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research‑active department and contribute to undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes, including the BA Joint Honours and MA in History.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials for BA Joint Honours, MA in History and related modules.
• Teach advanced historiography and core survey courses at undergraduate level.
• Potentially support additional programmes such as the Bachelor of Religious Education with History and the BA Single Module programme.
• Maintain an active research profile, publishing regularly in leading journals and presses.
• Contribute to departmental, faculty and university administration.
• Engage with the wider academic profession through conferences and collaborations.

Required profile

• Doctorate in History or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels.
• Evidence of high‑quality research and recent publications.
• Willingness to participate in departmental service and governance.
