Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses

About the role

The University of New South Wales seeks an experienced academic leader to serve as Associate Dean Rural and Head of Rural Clinical Campuses. This senior position provides strategic and operational oversight for the university’s rural medical education sites, primarily based in Wagga Wagga or Port Macquarie.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior academic and clinical leadership across all Rural Clinical Campuses (RCC) within the School of Clinical Medicine.
• Advise the Faculty and University on rural health matters and align campus activities with national rural health training initiatives.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, staff stewardship, medical education delivery, and research activities.
• Foster strong partnerships with Local Health Districts, hospitals, and community health providers.
• Collaborate with the Manager Rural, RCC Directors of Medical Education, and senior clinical staff to integrate clinical practice, education, research, and innovation.

Required profile

• Established academic record at Associate Professor or Professor level (Level D‑E).
• Extensive experience in rural health systems, medical education, and research.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑site operations and build collaborative relationships.
• Willingness to travel regularly between rural and occasional metropolitan campuses.
