Auto Electrical Technician – Mining Fleet

About the role

Newmont is seeking an experienced Auto Electrical Technician to join the Truckshop team at its Lihir Operation in Papua New Guinea. You will be the technical authority for auto electrical systems on a fleet of large haul trucks, ensuring reliability and safety in a demanding mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and hands‑on support for auto electrical systems across CAT 785D, 777F and 773D haul trucks and related equipment.
• Lead complex fault‑finding, diagnostics and repair of wiring harnesses, electronic control modules and other electrical components.
• Mentor and coach core workers and apprentices, developing their capability and adherence to OEM standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment availability and maintenance quality.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in line with Newmont’s operational excellence objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an auto electrical technician, preferably in heavy‑equipment or mining environments.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
