Automation Engineer / PAPI – Brewery Automation

About the role

Reporting to the Brewery Manager, the Automation Engineer/PAPI will own, maintain and continuously improve the brewery’s automation hardware and software. You will provide technical leadership across maintenance, process improvement, fault finding, operations, quality and capital projects while supporting the site’s digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop automation platforms such as Rockwell FactoryTalk Studio, Allen‑Bradley PLCs, Siemens systems, Wonderware InTouch and AVEVA Historian.
• Support fault‑finding activities across Maintenance, Operations, Quality, IT and Digital & Technology teams.
• Apply and tune advanced process control algorithms, including PID loop tuning.
• Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics and control diagrams.
• Provide technical consultation on machine operation, process functionality and equipment principles.
• Review and maintain system architectures, standards, change‑control procedures and backups.
• Contribute to cGMP and GAMP compliance, validation and documentation activities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Profibus, CANbus).
• Solid knowledge of physics, process engineering and instrumentation principles.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics and control diagrams.
• Analytical mindset with a data‑driven approach.
