Backend Engineer – Performance Medicine

About the role

Kitman Labs is looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Performance Medicine team. You will help build the next‑generation electronic medical record that powers health, injury, recovery and availability insights for elite athletes worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend systems for the Performance Medicine product from concept to production.
• Develop Ruby services that capture, store and move athlete medical data with a focus on accuracy and privacy.
• Address reliability and scaling challenges for a platform used by thousands of teams across top global leagues.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, medical staff and performance analysts to shape the product around real‑world workflows.

Required profile

• Four or more years of professional software development experience, preferably on SaaS products.
• Demonstrated impact on product or team performance through past projects.
• Experience working alongside product managers and designers to ship user‑focused features.
• Practical knowledge of distributed systems and large‑scale backend architecture.
