Backend Engineer – Python & AWS Lambda (Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to design and maintain scalable Python services for IoT devices and mobile applications. The role is permanent, hybrid‑based in Dublin, and focuses on server‑less micro‑services using AWS Lambda.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services in Python for IoT and mobile platforms.
• Build cloud‑native, server‑less solutions on AWS Lambda employing infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Participate in the full application lifecycle from architecture through deployment and monitoring.
• Integrate external partner platforms and third‑party services.
• Take part in a rotating on‑call schedule to support platform operations.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and backend engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience building backend services with Python.
• Strong understanding of event‑driven architectures, messaging and asynchronous processing.
• Hands‑on production experience with AWS Lambda and IaC tooling.
• Experience with observability tools such as structured logging and distributed tracing.
• Proficiency in using AI‑assisted development tools.
• Excellent communication skills in English for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Relevant degree or equivalent industry experience.
