Chief Pharmacist (Grade I) – National Ambulance Service

About the role

The National Ambulance Service (NAS) is seeking a qualified Pharmacist at Chief I grade to join its Clinical Directorate in Limerick. This permanent, whole‑time position will support the delivery of safe and effective medication services across the ambulance network.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and contribute to NAS Clinical Directorate meetings and HSE panels.
• Develop, implement and monitor pharmacy policies, procedures and medication safety initiatives.
• Provide clinical pharmacy expertise to pre‑hospital care teams.
• Lead and mentor pharmacy staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medication use in emergency settings.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
• Significant experience in clinical pharmacy or a related healthcare setting.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary environment.
