Clinical Nurse Specialist – Oral Anti‑Cancer (OAMS)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the Oral Anti‑Cancer Medication (OAMS) clinic provides specialist nursing care to patients receiving oral systemic anti‑cancer therapy. The role supports a rapidly growing patient cohort, ensuring safe medication use, monitoring, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Review approximately 35 patients on oral anti‑cancer medications each week, conducting nursing assessments, weight, vital signs, and medication histories.
• Provide medication reviews and follow‑up according to local key performance indicators and drug monitoring protocols.
• Liaise with community pharmacies, dietetics, social work, palliative care, psycho‑oncology, and other services to arrange appropriate referrals.
• Distribute patient information leaflets, triage details, and maintain a dedicated phone line for patient queries.
• Attend weekly consultant rounds to discuss patient care, drug toxicities, and treatment plans.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in oncology or cancer care.
• Demonstrated ability to manage oral systemic anti‑cancer therapies and monitor treatment‑related toxicities.
• Strong communication skills for patient education and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Ability to work autonomously in a busy clinic environment.
