Cloud Applications Engineer

About the role

OpenText is looking for a Cloud Applications Engineer to join its Cork team. You will design, operate, and improve the observability and monitoring stack across hybrid and cloud platforms, ensuring platform reliability and high‑quality alerting.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, configure and maintain monitoring and alerting tools such as Operations Bridge Manager (OBM), Network Node Manager (NNMi), Zabbix, Prometheus and Graylog.
• Define and maintain Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and ensure alerting quality.
• Build dashboards and service health views for clear visibility.
• Collaborate with the NOC to manage alert routing, escalation and Tier‑3 support for production environments.
• Deploy, upgrade and manage observability components in Linux and Kubernetes environments.
• Automate monitoring tasks using Python, Bash, Terraform or Ansible.
• Maintain log and metrics pipelines and integrate with ITSM tools for incident, change and CMDB processes.
• Apply ITIL best practices and keep documentation up to date.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in system administration, hybrid applications, monitoring and ITIL processes.
• Strong understanding of observability, log aggregation and automation concepts.
• Experience supporting critical production environments and participating in post‑incident reviews.

• Linux administration and Kubernetes (OpenSource, GKE, EKS).
• SLIs/SLOs, incident response, post‑mortems.
• ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration Management).
• New Relic, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry (nice‑to‑have).
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, SNMP, DNS, Syslog, APIs.
• Basic AI/ML concepts and use of LLM‑based tools for troubleshooting and automation.
