Cloud Operations Engineer (Atlas)

About the role

MongoDB’s Cloud Operations Engineering team is responsible for the operational success of the Atlas multi‑cloud database‑as‑a‑service. As a Cloud Operations Engineer you will join a 24/7/365 global team, working from our Dublin (or Cork) office, to monitor, troubleshoot and improve the reliability of Atlas for startups to multinational customers.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with a worldwide team of Cloud Operations Engineers to meet Atlas uptime guarantees.
• Design, implement and refine processes and tools that reduce Mean Time to Resolve for incidents.
• Monitor alert dashboards, detect emerging customer‑facing incidents and drive proactive resolution.
• Automate routine monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting tasks.
• Diagnose live incidents, distinguish platform issues from usage problems, and lead resolution efforts.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and update SOPs to prevent recurrence.
• Document corner‑case scenarios, troubleshooting workflows and contribute to knowledge bases.
• Collaborate with product management, cloud engineering and support teams to identify improvement areas.

Required profile

• Critical thinker with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Comfortable working in a 24/7 on‑call environment and volunteering for occasional out‑of‑hours coverage.
• Willing to work onsite in Dublin or Cork, Monday‑Friday.
• Experience with server administration and performance troubleshooting.

Required skills

• Creating and monitoring alert dashboards.
• Analyzing system and event logs.
• Server administration (Linux/Unix environments).
• Performance troubleshooting of database workloads.
