Communications & Engagement Consultant

About the role

Arup is seeking a Communications & Engagement Consultant to help shape strategic messages and stakeholder experiences across the built environment. You will work within the Strategic Communications discipline of the broader Strategy Consulting team, contributing to projects that span cities, transport, water and energy sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead stakeholder engagement and strategic communications activities for built‑environment projects.
• Design and facilitate workshops, consultations and events, both in‑person and virtual.
• Manage end‑to‑end public and stakeholder consultations, including mapping, feedback capture, thematic analysis and reporting.
• Translate policy and regulatory updates into concise briefings, consultation responses and engagement strategies.
• Create high‑quality communications materials such as reports, presentations, publications and digital content, collaborating with design and digital teams.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification (Level 8 or above) in Communications, Journalism, PR, Marketing, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Strategy or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in communications and/or stakeholder engagement, preferably in a client‑facing advisory or consulting role.
• Proven track record designing and delivering communication and engagement strategies that support change and informed decision‑making.
• Excellent writing ability to translate complex technical material into clear, audience‑focused messages.
