About the role
The National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) within the Health Service Executive is seeking a Communications Officer at Grade VII to lead its communication activities. Based in Dublin, the role supports the NCCP’s mission to improve cancer prevention, early detection and care across Ireland.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication strategies that promote NCCP initiatives to health regions, the Department of Health and external partners.
- Produce a range of communication materials including press releases, newsletters, web content and social media posts.
- Manage media relations and respond to enquiries on behalf of the NCCP.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement and facilitate information exchange between the NCCP and regional health services.
- Travel to health regions as required to support local communication activities and gather feedback.
Required profile
- Open to both HSE and non‑HSE applicants.
- Relevant qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a communications role within a public‑sector or health‑care environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel nationally as part of the role.
