Construction Safety Officer – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking a Construction Safety Officer to support the delivery of large‑scale solar projects across Ireland. You will work closely with site teams, contractors and management to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out site inspections, audits and safety checks on active construction sites.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and implement follow‑up actions.
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and other safety briefings.
• Assist in developing and reviewing HSE procedures, method statements and safety documentation.
• Monitor contractor compliance and promote safe systems of work.
• Support emergency response planning and site safety initiatives.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and assist with reporting requirements.
• Travel to project locations throughout Ireland as required.

Required profile

• NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Construction Safety Officer, HSE Advisor or similar role.
• Good knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation and best practice.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Full Category B driving licence.
• Experience in construction, engineering, utilities or renewable energy is an advantage.
• IOSH membership and/or a Health & Safety Diploma or Degree is desirable.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
