Crane Operator

About the role

New Simberi Gold Limited is seeking an experienced Crane Operator for its Simberi open‑cut mine in Papua New Guinea. The role is permanent, full‑time and follows a 15/13 roster across multiple PNG locations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a non‑slew Franna‑25 crane and mobile slew cranes (both below and above 100 tonnes) to lift, move and position materials on site.
• Perform daily pre‑start and post‑start checks, clean and maintain the cranes, and carry out routine lubrication.
• Interpret load charts, set up cranes according to OEM standards, and execute lift plans safely.
• Inspect equipment for safety, report hazards, and ensure compliance with JHA, SWP, SOP and lift plans.
• Carry out rigging duties as required and assist with any out‑of‑hours work.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 education and a current unrestricted PNG Class 7 driver licence.
• At least 5 years of industry experience operating cranes.
• Certificates for dogging, non‑slew crane operation, and mobile slew crane operation (up to and over 100 tonnes).
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow safety procedures.
