Consultant Anaesthesiologist – Dublin & South East

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking a Consultant Anaesthesiologist to join its Dublin and South East region. This permanent, whole‑time position is split between St Columcille's Hospital (27 hours per week) and St Vincent's University Hospital (10 hours per week), providing comprehensive anaesthetic services across two key sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality anaesthetic care for a wide range of surgical procedures in both hospitals.
• Lead and supervise junior anaesthetic staff, registrars and theatre teams.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and emergency anaesthetic response.
• Contribute to departmental audit, research and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSE clinical governance, safety standards and best practice guidelines.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full registration on the Irish Medical Council.
• Specialist training and certification in Anaesthesiology (Consultant grade, 1015).
• Eligibility to work in Ireland and a valid HSE or non‑HSE applicant status.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care within a multidisciplinary team.
