Customs Clerk

About the role

Expeditors is seeking a Customs Clerk to coordinate freight clearance documentation and act as the primary liaison with customs authorities. You will work closely with customers, providing guidance on customs regulations in both origin and destination countries while ensuring compliance and excellent service.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs clearance documentation for a diverse customer base.
• Interact daily with customs authorities to resolve queries and ensure smooth clearance.
• Serve as the specialist for customs compliance issues and support customers in resolving them.
• Review and update internal policies, procedures, and controls related to customs operations.
• Identify improvement opportunities, risks, or IT solutions to enhance compliance.
• Collaborate with the Expeditors network to share best practices across the region.
• Assist sales and account teams with cost‑saving solutions and duty/VAT processing.
• Conduct regular audits and maintain up‑to‑date documentation and training materials.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in the customs industry.
• Strong knowledge of Irish customs procedures and systems.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with customers and internal teams at all levels.
• Proactive attitude toward learning new regulations and implementing changes.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Windows operating system and standard PC software.
