Cyber Security Engineer – Incident Response (Hybrid, Dublin)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to strengthen our client’s security operations function. The role focuses on incident response, threat monitoring and collaboration with internal and external SOC teams, offering a fast‑paced environment with strong growth potential.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct hands‑on incident response, triage and digital forensics on security events.
• Act as senior escalation point, coordinating actions between internal teams and outsourced SOC providers.
• Support 24/7 threat monitoring and rapid response within a hybrid SOC model.
• Operate and tune cyber‑defence tools such as SIEM, EDR, SOAR and threat‑intelligence platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, Splunk).
• Automate detection and response workflows using Python, Bash and PowerShell scripts.
• Perform offensive security testing and vulnerability assessments with Burp Suite, Nmap and Metasploit.
• Apply MITRE ATT&CK knowledge to improve detection and response capabilities.
• Develop and refine incident‑response playbooks, SOPs and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with Cyber Defence, Engineering, IT and third‑party vendors to raise security posture.
• Support tabletop exercises and simulate real‑world attacks.
• Maintain incident records, dashboards, SLA/KPI tracking and compliance reporting.

Required profile

• Must be based in Ireland and hold a Stamp 4 visa, EU citizenship or an Irish passport.
• Proven experience in incident response and SOC escalation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure in a 24/7 environment.
