Data Engineer – Build Scalable Data Pipelines

About the role

As a Data Engineer within Bentley Systems' Consumption Operations team, you will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure that powers our consumption‑based business model. Your work will ensure accurate billing and provide data‑driven insights across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimise scalable ELT/ETL pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Architect seamless integrations with internal and external sources, including databases, APIs, and business applications.
• Champion data governance, implement security measures, and ensure compliance with financial regulations such as SOX.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and continuously improve scalability, speed, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and leadership to deliver high‑quality curated datasets.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data models and pipelines and stay current with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience as a Data Engineer or in a closely related data‑architecture role.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work both autonomously and within a collaborative remote team.

Required skills

• Proficient in SQL and Python for data manipulation and pipeline development.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms, specifically Snowflake.
• Hands‑on knowledge of dbt, Fivetran, and SQL Server.
