Data Engineer

About the role

Deloitte’s Artificial Intelligence & Data Team is seeking a Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data solutions for high‑profile clients. You will work with cutting‑edge technologies, contribute to AI and analytics initiatives, and collaborate across multiple business functions in a people‑first, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project workstreams and support client engagements across various industries.
• Design, develop, and implement robust data architectures and scalable ETL pipelines.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout data workflows.
• Optimize data processes for performance and efficiency in large‑scale environments.
• Integrate diverse data sources and formats into cohesive, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical designs.

Required profile

• Minimum third‑level degree in Maths, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven commercial experience in data management, stakeholder engagement and project delivery.
• Strong expertise in data modelling, integration and ETL pipeline development.

Required skills

• Distributed computing tools such as Hadoop or Spark.
• Programming languages: Python, R, Scala.
• Data integration tools: NiFi.
• Cloud platforms: Azure Analytics, Databricks, AWS Glue.
• SQL and relational databases.
• Data visualisation tools: Power BI, Tableau.
