Defect Metrology Engineer

About the role

Intel's Foundry division is seeking a Defect Metrology Engineer to own and optimise critical inspection equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. You will join a cross‑functional team focused on delivering world‑class yields through data‑driven analysis and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse equipment and process performance using statistical methods, identify trends and drive corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot complex tool issues, develop scalable solutions and implement preventive strategies.
• Continuously improve tool performance, optimise recipes and lead sustaining innovation activities.
• Lead equipment improvement projects with cross‑functional teams to enhance operational performance.
• Support recipe development, optimisation and transfer to ensure high‑sensitivity defect detection.

Required profile

• Level 8 degree (NFQ) or higher in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Nanotechnology or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in equipment engineering or a similar high‑tech environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and autonomous work capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work in multicultural, cross‑functional teams.

• Data extraction, validation, statistical analysis and visualisation (e.g., JMP).
• Equipment troubleshooting and automation systems.
• Optics knowledge.
• Yield analysis and defect‑reduction methodologies.
