Director, Regulatory Affairs, Privacy Defense

About the role

Google is seeking a Director to lead its EMEA Regulatory Affairs team focused on privacy defense. The role will guide the company through complex data‑protection challenges across Europe, working closely with legal, product, engineering and policy teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an EMEA‑based privacy team addressing high‑risk data‑protection issues for Google and Alphabet companies.
• Identify, prevent, and proactively resolve regulatory investigations, enforcement actions and litigation.
• Collaborate with Legal, Data Security, Public Policy, Compliance, Communications, Marketing, Product and Engineering to develop strategies that mitigate risk.
• Engage directly with EU Data Protection Authorities and other global regulators.
• Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on emerging privacy threats and regulatory trends.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree, or comparable practical experience.
• Minimum 15 years of experience managing litigation, regulatory investigations, enforcement actions and incidents in global or regulated environments.
• Proven experience leading regional teams and other managers.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with EU Data Protection Authorities or similar regulators.
• Admitted to practice law in the UK or EU and in good standing, or authorized to practice in‑house.
