Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

The Electrical Design Engineer will deliver electrical design works, plant modifications, design risk assessments, engineering calculations, document management and red‑line drawings for the process plant and associated mine‑site infrastructure. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure solutions meet company specifications, operational requirements, contractual obligations and relevant Australian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop electrical engineering designs and documentation for mining and process‑plant infrastructure.
• Prepare single‑line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, equipment specifications and detailed design packages.
• Perform power‑system studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and arc‑flash assessments.
• Design and review HV and LV power distribution systems, motor control centres (MCCs), substations, switchrooms and related infrastructure.
• Ensure all designs comply with Australian Standards, statutory requirements and company engineering standards.
• Provide technical support during project execution, commissioning and operational hand‑over.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical design for mining or process‑plant environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Single‑line diagram creation
• Schematics and cable‑schedule preparation
• Power‑system analysis (load flow, fault level, protection coordination, arc‑flash)
• HV and LV distribution system design
• Motor Control Centre (MCC) design
• Substation and switchroom engineering
• Knowledge of Australian electrical standards
