Electrical Design Engineer – Overhead Lines

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer specialised in overhead lines to join a leading utility infrastructure consultancy. You will work on high‑voltage transmission and distribution projects across Ireland, the UK and internationally, delivering safe and compliant designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design high‑voltage overhead line projects for transmission and distribution networks.
• Prepare and review design drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
• Assist with line routing, tower spotting and conductor selection.
• Ensure designs meet client specifications, IEC standards and industry regulations.
• Coordinate with civil, structural and environmental teams throughout project delivery.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and handover.
• Attend site visits and support project delivery as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (NFQ Level 8).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in high‑voltage overhead line design.
• Full driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD or similar line‑design software.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
