Enterprise Architect

About the role

The Enterprise Architect reports to the Head of IT Architecture and is responsible for defining, owning, and evolving FBD’s enterprise‑wide architecture vision across business, application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure domains. This role bridges business strategy and IT execution, translating strategic objectives into architectural principles, target states, and roadmaps.

Key responsibilities

• Support definition, maintenance, and communication of enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and target states.
• Participate in the Design Authority, presenting strategic blueprints and ensuring alignment of solution designs with enterprise direction.
• Provide architectural assurance and direction for major programmes and change initiatives.
• Help develop and evolve the IT strategy, turning business goals into technology roadmaps.
• Define and evolve enterprise‑level application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security architectures, ensuring consistency, reuse, scalability, and maintainability.
• Establish architecture patterns and integration standards, including API‑based and event‑driven approaches.
• Ensure architectures meet security, resilience, regulatory, and operational requirements, aligned with DORA and IT controls.
• Guide assessment and rationalisation of current‑state architectures, identifying technical debt and opportunities for modernisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise architecture across multiple domains (business, application, data, integration, security, infrastructure).
• Strong ability to work with senior business and technology stakeholders and translate complex concepts into clear guidance.
• Leadership and mentoring skills to support Solution Architects and delivery teams.
• Experience facilitating architectural discussions with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
