Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established Irish business on a growth trajectory, is seeking a commercially‑minded Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will shape the finance function, support strategic decision‑making and drive value across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team.
• Deliver financial reporting and KPI analysis.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow, reviewing performance against projections.
• Oversee full accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Supervise payroll processing.
• Ensure statutory filings are completed accurately and on time.
• Manage the year‑end process and liaise with group auditors.
• Review and improve accounting systems, policies and procedures, continuously optimising operations.
• Drive procurement optimisation.
• Prepare and evaluate business development proposals.
• Identify and mitigate financial, operational and commercial risks.
• Oversee treasury management activities.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience.
• Hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a finance team.
• Strong technical financial accounting expertise.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with meticulous attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated team player capable of working independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of financial systems.
