Fundraising Programme Development Lead

About the role

The Irish Cancer Society is seeking a seasoned strategic leader to own and drive a portfolio of high‑impact fundraising programmes. Reporting to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, this senior role will shape the future of fundraising through cross‑organisational initiatives and transformational change.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership and oversight for a portfolio of strategic fundraising programmes, ensuring clear purpose, scope and outcomes.
• Define programme direction, success measures and robust governance structures.
• Lead and coordinate cross‑functional project teams, ensuring accountability, alignment and timely delivery of milestones.
• Anticipate risks, remove barriers and make informed decisions to maintain momentum.
• Deliver high‑quality reporting, insights and recommendations to senior leadership and governance bodies.
• Lead the end‑to‑end development of the Irish Cancer Society Legacy Strategy and the 2027–2030 Legacy Action Plan.
• Commission and interpret research, market analysis and benchmarking to identify growth opportunities.
• Engage senior stakeholders to shape strategic direction and secure organisational alignment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior strategic leadership within fundraising, marketing or related fields.
• Strong track record of managing complex, cross‑functional programmes.
• Excellent analytical, decision‑making and risk‑management capabilities.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organisational change.
• Proactive, results‑oriented mindset with a passion for the charity sector.
