Global Financial Crime & Sanctions Legal Counsel

About the role

This senior legal position is based in Ireland and focuses on shaping the global financial crime strategy for a fast‑moving, highly regulated technology company. You will act as the trusted advisor on sanctions, AML/CFT, anti‑bribery, fraud and market‑integrity matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance on financial‑crime risks linked to products, services, partnerships and business operations worldwide.
• Lead interactions with regulators, law‑enforcement agencies and financial‑intelligence units, including responses to inquiries, investigations and enforcement actions.
• Manage sanctions‑related matters such as licensing applications, screening, counter‑party reviews and regulatory filings.
• Collaborate with compliance, investigations and transaction‑monitoring teams to identify and mitigate complex risks.
• Embed legal risk considerations into new‑product development, market‑expansion initiatives and operational frameworks.
• Coordinate external counsel on cross‑regional financial‑crime issues and develop internal policies, guidance and training programs.
• Monitor regulatory developments and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with at least 10 years of experience in financial‑crime law, sanctions, AML/CFT and related regulatory areas.
• Proven track record of regulatory engagement and handling complex, multi‑jurisdictional legal matters.
• Strong ability to work independently in a dynamic, international environment.
• Excellent communication skills for advising senior business leaders and external authorities.
