Graduate Software Engineer – Data Platforms

About the role

eBay is looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join its Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) organization. You will work on the Data Platforms team, building and operating large‑scale backend and distributed systems that power eBay’s global marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and ship production‑grade backend features that improve platform reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to distributed systems that ingest, process, and manage high‑volume marketplace data.
• Enhance service performance, throughput, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering and product partners to translate business needs into platform capabilities.
• Strengthen observability through testing, monitoring, debugging, and automation.
• Participate in the design, development, and operation of cloud‑native platform services.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, graduating in late 2025 or 2026.
• Strong foundation in object‑oriented programming and software engineering principles.
• Passion for learning, curiosity, and ownership of production systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java, Python, or C++.
• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
