Head of Planning – FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

This senior leadership position is responsible for shaping and executing the end‑to‑end planning function of a high‑volume Irish FMCG manufacturing business. Based on site in Co. Cavan, the role will drive planning strategy, improve operational performance and support the company’s continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning and scheduling function across short, medium and long‑term horizons.
• Own and drive the S&OP process, ensuring alignment across commercial, operational and supply‑chain functions.
• Translate demand forecasts into achievable production and supply plans.
• Develop robust production schedules that maximise efficiency and service levels.
• Conduct scenario planning for demand volatility, capacity constraints, promotions and new product development.
• Monitor planning performance through KPIs, reporting and analytics, identifying continuous‑improvement opportunities.
• Improve planning systems, governance and standard operating procedures.
• Support strategic supply‑chain initiatives, business continuity and long‑term capacity planning.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing planning team.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in FMCG supply chain, production planning or scheduling.
• Proven leadership experience managing planning teams.
• Strong expertise in S&OP processes and integrated planning.
• Experience in high‑volume manufacturing environments.
• Advanced analytical capability and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• ERP/planning systems such as SAP, IBP or APO.
