Health and Safety Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Health and Safety Officer to join our construction team on a new project in Athlone. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation across a range of construction and engineering activities, supporting the project team to maintain a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all site health and safety activities to ensure alignment with current regulations and company procedures.
• Carry out site inspections, hazard assessments and deliver safety briefings.
• Investigate accidents and near‑misses, develop corrective actions and report outcomes to senior management.
• Engage with management, subcontractors and workers to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within construction (pharmaceutical projects a plus).
• Recognised health and safety certification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
• Strong knowledge of current H&S legislation, protocols and industry standards.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership and analytical abilities.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to drive safety engagement on‑site.
