Infection Control Nurse – Hospital Epidemiology

About the role

The Infection Control Nurse will lead infection prevention initiatives in a multi‑specialty hospital, ensuring patient and staff safety through robust epidemiology practices and outbreak management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies in line with regulations and hospital standards.
• Conduct regular clinical audits to assess compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain surveillance systems to track infection rates, trends, and outcomes across all departments.
• Lead investigations of hospital‑acquired infection outbreaks, ensuring timely containment and accurate reporting.
• Educate clinical and support staff through structured training sessions, workshops, and ongoing communication.
• Collaborate with management, quality, and clinical teams to enhance patient safety and infection prevention strategies.
• Analyse surveillance data, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders for evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Participate in accreditation and compliance activities to meet local, national, and international standards.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise during new program launches, risk assessments, and policy updates.
• Mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth and continuous performance improvement.

Required profile

• GNM or B.Sc. Nursing with a recognized infection control diploma/certificate.
• Registration with the Delhi Nursing Council.
• Minimum 10 years of nursing experience, including at least 5 years as an Infection Control Nurse in a 200‑bed+ hospital.
• Proven expertise in infection control, hospital epidemiology, and outbreak management.
• Strong experience in clinical auditing and surveillance data analysis.
