Installation Engineer

About the role

As an Installation Engineer you will join Applied Materials' Installation team to install, assemble, connect and test semiconductor production equipment across Europe. The role involves extensive travel (approximately 75% of the time) and requires close collaboration with customers to ensure successful hand‑over of new systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform independent installation tasks including mechanical assembly, electrical connections, and robot calibrations.
• Follow checklists and procedures, verify schematics, and conduct testing with senior engineers.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during system installation.
• Communicate equipment status and pass‑downs to customers and internal teams.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce installation cycle time and costs.
• Provide accurate reporting of hours worked, status, and non‑conformances.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master degree in a technical field such as mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage installation projects within budget and timeline.
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Europe (≈75% of the time).
