Instructor – Arts, Crafts & Life Skills (Galway)

About the role

Ability West is seeking enthusiastic Instructors to join our team in Galway City. You will deliver a variety of activities that support the personal development and independence of people with intellectual disabilities and autism.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instruction in arts, crafts, woodwork, cookery, horticulture and independent living skills, tailored to individual preferences and abilities.
• Deliver courses that develop specific skills, social interaction, personal care and community integration.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, adapting duties flexibly as needed.
• Build respectful, equality‑based relationships that promote autonomy and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
• Ability to teach across all day‑centre programmes.
• Full, current driving licence.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Hourly rate of €16.60 – €23.71, based on experience.
