Instructor – Arts, Crafts & Life Skills (Moycullen, Galway)

About the role

Ability West is seeking an enthusiastic Instructor to join its Meitheal Services team in Moycullen, County Galway. Based in Galway City, you will deliver a range of activity‑based programmes that support people with intellectual disabilities and autism to develop skills, confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide instruction under direction in arts, crafts, woodwork, cookery, horticulture and independent living skills, tailored to participants’ preferences and abilities.
• Deliver courses that combine specific skill development with social development, personal care and community integration.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, sharing flexible duties and supporting one another.
• Build respectful, equality‑based relationships with participants, encouraging autonomy and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviours.
• Ability to teach across all day‑centre programmes.
• Full, current driving licence with manual car capability.
• Proven capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
