IT Server & Network Hardware Support Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Onsite IT Server & Network Hardware Support Technician to join our specialist engineering team in a high‑performance data centre in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. The role involves hands‑on, physically active support of critical server, storage and network hardware within a 24 × 7 shift pattern.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Layer 1 physical infrastructure support, including installation, replacement and removal of server and network equipment.
• Perform structured cabling tasks (copper, fibre, AOC) with termination and testing.
• Execute rack‑and‑stack activities across server and storage platforms and provide break/fix support under engineering direction.
• Support top‑of‑rack switches, optics, power‑supply units and other network devices.
• Manage server lifecycle (IMAC) and assist with OS builds for Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Provide storage support for NetApp and block‑storage platforms.
• Maintain asset tracking, conduct audits and handle equipment securely.
• Assist remote L2/L3 engineering teams during incidents and coordinate vendor escort duties for on‑site maintenance.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of experience in IT infrastructure, data‑centre or network support.
• Strong knowledge of server, storage and network hardware.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
• Understanding of structured cabling and networking fundamentals.
• Ability to work in a 24 × 7 shift rota (4 days on / 4 days off) and handle manual lifting of equipment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
