Junior Data Center Consultant & Network Engineer (CCNA)

About the role

Island Networks is seeking a Junior Consultant to join its Professional Services team. You will support the design, implementation and ongoing operation of cloud, data‑center, storage and networking solutions for enterprise customers, working under senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing storage and network architectures based on business requirements.
• Support implementation of SAN and NAS solutions, including NetApp systems.
• Configure and deploy routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers under supervision.
• Help with storage provisioning, capacity planning, performance monitoring and backup/disaster‑recovery processes.
• Support LAN, WAN and WLAN configuration, monitoring and basic security (firewalls, VPNs).
• Perform rack‑and‑stack, structured cabling, patching, labeling and cable management for copper and fiber.
• Maintain accurate rack elevations, port mappings, asset inventories and documentation.
• Provide first‑level technical support and troubleshoot storage or network issues.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a strong interest in data‑center and networking technologies.
• Attitude and willingness to learn are valued more than extensive experience.
• CCNA certification or equivalent networking knowledge is preferred.

Required skills

• CCNA (or comparable networking certification)
• Understanding of SAN and NAS concepts
• Familiarity with NetApp storage systems
• Basic knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers

• VPN and basic network security concepts
