LAT (ST4/5) in Respiratory Medicine

About the role

This fixed‑term Higher Specialist Training (ST4/ST5) post in Respiratory Medicine is based at Ninewells Hospital, NHS Tayside. The successful trainee will join the acute medicine on‑call registrar rota, delivering high‑quality care to patients across both scheduled and unscheduled services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care for a wide range of respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease, tuberculosis, infections, pleural disease, sleep disorders and critical care.
• Participate in the acute medicine on‑call registrar rota, covering out‑of‑hours duties.
• Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, radiology sessions and hospital grand rounds.
• Develop procedural competence in bronchoscopy and pleural interventions.

Required profile

• Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid Licence to Practice.
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a supportive training environment.
