Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. The role is full‑time, grade 5, and based on the EIB headquarters, offering a permanent contract and relocation support.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal advice and draft opinions on complex institutional, EU‑law and internal policy matters, including transparency, anti‑fraud, complaints and staff‑related issues.
• Conduct legal research, prepare studies and keep the division updated on relevant legal developments.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces, and liaise with external counsel.
• Maintain contacts with counterparts across the Bank and with external institutions such as other IFIs and EU bodies.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor, preferably Master’s level) with a strong focus on EU law.
• At least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably within EU institutions, international law firms or comparable organisations.
• Demonstrated experience in EU litigation is a distinct advantage.
• Excellent command of English and/or French.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of EU law and institutional frameworks.
• Proficiency with standard office software and legal research databases.
