Lead Network Engineer – Telecom Operations

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to drive its Telecom Operations forward. The role focuses on solving complex network circuit issues, ensuring high‑availability of the Mastercard backbone and customer networks, and leading a team of Network Operations Engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary escalation point for DIA, MPLS, Ethernet, DWDM, backbone and last‑mile connectivity problems.
• Perform advanced fault isolation across carrier networks, customer premises and internal infrastructure.
• Lead bridge calls with service providers, vendors and internal teams during outages and degradations.
• Analyze circuit performance metrics such as latency, packet loss, jitter and flapping links.
• Validate carrier root‑cause analyses and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Oversee incident response for major outages, maintain SLA compliance and document incidents.
• Coordinate maintenance windows, circuit testing, turn‑ups, migrations, upgrades and de‑commissions.
• Mentor Network Operations Engineers, develop runbooks, knowledge articles and SOPs.
• Identify recurring issues and propose proactive network design or operational improvements.

Required profile

• Highly motivated and experienced network professional with a passion for problem solving.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with global carriers, vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in incident management, on‑call rotations and SLA enforcement.
